First Case of Measles Confirmed in Austin
The first case of measles since 1999 has been confirmed in Austin, Texas.
According to a press release from the city of Austin, a person living in Travis county has been diagnosed with measles.
Measles is extremely contagious and if you live in the Austin area you may have been exposed to the virus. Symptoms typically include fever, sore eyes, rash, and cough.
Central Texas health officials have composed a list of areas and dates associated with the confirmed measles case.

The CDC reports that in 2019, 1,276* cases of measles were reported in 31 states. This is the highest number of reported cases since 1992. Most people who were diagnosed with measles were not vaccinated.
