
Video: Massive Texas Fire Suddenly Razes Apartment Complex In Minutes
Killeen, Texas had dozens of emergency personnel report to a quickly spreading fire near Atkinson Avenue and Liberty Street yesterday afternoon about 1 PM that nearly destroyed the Killeen Independent School District bus depot, and the local Fort Cavazos Habitat for Humanity facility. According to this KCEN article, a grass fire overcame a 10 acre field before it found new fuel at a storage facility, and then it made its way into an apartment complex that is now a total loss.

Texas weather can be very challenging to predict, but the one thing we can always rely on in the Lone Star State is that the wind will be blowing. Gusts yesterday were pushing past 30 miles per hour, and even with the quick response by the Killeen Fire Department, the fire simply moved to quickly to steer away from the apartment complex.

Killeen Fire made plans to remain at the sight of the fires for at least an additional 24 hours to prevent any coals or embers from flaring back up, but the apartment complex was already a total loss before the fire could be brought under control.
