Fort Hood Announces Closures Tuesday Due To Freezing Temperatures
Monday was a sunny day in central Texas which caused some ice to melt. But the freezing temperatures overnight will result in a ton of black ice on roads in central Texas. Because of this, Fort Hood has decided to remain closed on Tuesday, January 27th. According to Fort Hood, only mission essential personnel should report for duty. Contract personnel need to check in with their supervisors for instructions.
What is Closed/Cancelled at Fort Hood?
- All units will cancel physical training
- No road guards will man intersections on post during this time period.
- The Warrior Way, Santa Fe, 79th Street and Mohawk Gates will remain closed.
- The Marvin Leath Visitors Center will be closed Jan. 27 (Re-opens at 5 a.m. Jan. 28.
- All scheduled Religious Service Offices services are cancelled.
- The Cavazos Connector will not be in operation.
- The Clear Creek (Main) Exchange will be closed.
What Will Remain Open at Fort Hood?
- The Meadows Child Development Center for Child Development Center and School Age Care will open for mission-essential personnel at 5:30 a.m. All other CYS childcare facilities and offices will be closed.
- The Patriot Dining Facility, Theodore Roosevelt Dining Facility and Operation Iraqi Freedom Dining Facility will be open 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 5 – 6:30 p.m.
- The Phantom Fresh Dining Facility will open between 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- The Always Ready Dining Facility will open from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. with Soldiers able to pick up prepared meals for dinner during the lunch service.
- The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center emergency room operations, labor and delivery and inpatient services will remain open. All appointments scheduled for January 27 will be rescheduled to virtual appointments or rescheduled.
- The Clear Creek and Warrior Way commissaries will open at noon.
- The III Corps Express remains open 24 hours a day.
- Abrams, West Fort Hood and North Fort Hood Physical Fitness Centers remain open 24/7 for use but will be unmanned.
