Fort Hood – Topping Out Ceremony Marks Milestone In Construction Of New Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center
A special “topping out” ceremony was held Tuesday at the construction site of the new Darnall Army Medical Center on Fort Hood.
The ceremony marked the completion of the structural phase of the new facility that will replace the 50-year-old medical center with much larger hospital. The new facility will feature 150 beds, an expanded emergency care center and more resources for dealing with behavioral health issues like post-traumatic stress disorder.
The 950,000 square feet facility will also feature special intensive care units and a neonatal intensive care unit. It is expected to be completed by 2015.
