Friends, Family Gather at Scott and White to Pray for Bryce Tamez
A local teen hospitalized after a car crash is receiving love and prayers from both inside and outside his room.
Our partners at KWTX-TV reports that Central Texans gathered in a parking lot at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple Sunday night to pray for 19-year-old Bryce Tamez, who was seriously injured in a car crash early Friday morning.
Bryce, who played football at Academy High School and graduated earlier this year, was riding with a friend around 1:30 AM Friday when their vehicle crashed near the intersection of Highway 93 and Old 95 in Temple. He's currently in Scott & White's ICU.
Well-wishers gathered in the hospital's parking lot Sunday to pray for Bryce and his family. Only so many people are allowed inside due to COVID-19 safety protocols, but Bryce's family could see the people gathered outside. If you've ever sad by the bed of a love one as they've fought for their life or recovered from a serious illness or injury, just imagine how you'd feel seeing so many people gathered outside their window to pray for them. It must have been overwhelming, but in a positive way.
If you'd like to help his family with medical bills and other expenses while they focus on Bryce's recovery, there's a GoFundMe page accepting donations now.
According to the GoFundMe's description, Bryce was trapped under the car for at least twenty minutes before emergency responders were able to free him. He suffered serious injury to his head, and had to be placed in a medically induced coma.
If you're able to give, it'd really help Bryce's family be able to worry more about his recovery than paying the bills. If you're not able to right now (and trust me, that's understandable), it costs nothing to keep someone and their family in your prayers.
