Holy Pepperoni! Are We Going to Run Out of Pizza in Killeen, Texas?
Hang on to your pepperoni! Killeen, Texas may see a frozen pizza shortage.
It may already be happening right here in Central Texas, but apparently there is a frozen pizza shortage and of course they are blaming it on a "supply chain shortage."
Can You Find Frozen Pizza?
KWTX reports that grocery stores are running out of frozen pizza as a result of high demand and a raw dough shortage. General Mills can't keep up with the demand and Pillsbury can't get the supplies it needs to make the raw dough needed to make the pizzas.
Supply Chain Shortage
Yep, blame it on the supply chain shortage. Disruptions in the supply of ingredients they use to make the dough like, fats, oils and starch along with packaging supplies are factoring in to the shortage.
Inflation to Blame?
Yep, the rising cost of just about everything is also to blame. Inflation has affected everything we use on a daily basis, and for those who may have been struggling financially before inflation went sky high, many people turned to the cheaper items in the grocery store in order to feed their families.
Frozen pizzas are just one of many items that are always affordable that most families eat. Kids, teenagers and adults can just pop a frozen pizza in the oven and a few minutes later it becomes a very affordable meal.
What's Next?
Seriously, first it was toilet paper, then it was sanitizer, dog food, Fritos, coffee creamer...and now it's frozen pizza? What's next, frozen burritos, chicken nuggets, fish sticks? When does it stop?
It's Time to Hoard
If you have a stockpile of frozen pizza, you may be able to fetch a pretty penny for it on the black market or, better yet, trade it for gas.
