At 2 pm this afternoon (April 9) Fort Hood is having a Memorial Ceremony for victims of the April 2 shooting.  President Obama will be here to speak.  If you need to be on post today, there will be gate closures from 11 am to 3 pm.

 

Entry to Sadowski will be through a controlled access point located on the Southwest Corner of Sadowski Field between 10 a.m. and 12:50 p.m.

 

Parking will not be available within one half mile of the ceremony site.

 

Due to limited space, access will be on a first come basis. DoD identification is required.Of course no guns or weapons allowed.  You can bring the following:

• Plastic bottles
• Umbrellas
• Cameras
• Folding Chairs (outside of perimeter)

 

Gate Closures:

The following gates will be closed April 9

Bernie Beck Main Gate

11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

79th St. Gate

Closed (EMERGENCY RESPONDERS ONLY Fire, Police, CRB, EMS)

 

Clarke Rd. Gate (North)

11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Clarke Rd. Gate (West Fort Hood)

11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Additionally, various roads throughout the post will be closed at various times throughout the day.

 

Closed Facilities:

The Copeland Center will be closed all day April 9 including the ID card section.

The AAFES Shoppette located next to III Corps Headquarters building will close from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Open Facilities:

All Elementary and Middle Schools on post.

All Child Development Centers will have normal operating hours.

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center will have normal operating hours.

All Directorate (DFMWR) facilities and programs will operate on their normal schedule with the exception of those facilities located along Clarke and Tank Destroyer Road. Between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., these facilities will not be able to accept or release any patrons or children.
