Genius! Use This Winter Weather Hack to Make Things Easier on Your Dog
Have a dog that won't go outside to potty in the ice or snow? I feel ya. I have two of those pets myself. I don't really blame them though. I wouldn't want to drudge through the ice and snow barefoot to go pee either. There's a hack for that.
Winter is Coming
If the forecast for Thursday holds up to the snow/sleet/ice that's predicted, you may find it hard to get your fur babies outside to do their business. Some dogs are just flat-out stubborn and won't go potty outside if it's wet out.
The snow/sleet/ice just seems to scare them off. They'd rather hold it 'til they can't, then go find a quiet corner in the house and unload. (I know this from experience.)
Even Bribery Don't Work
I've even tried throwing their favorite treats out into the yard to see if they'll fetch them, then hoping they'll go ahead and potty while they're out there. That doesn't work for me either. They simply don't care to walk in the cold wet snow/sleet/ice to let nature call.
There's a Hack for That
If you have the same problem with your four-legged friend, try this.
Before the storm rolls in, lay down some plywood, cardboard, or a tarp over a section of grass just outside the back door. Once the storm rolls in, and it's time to let the dogs out (who, who, who, who, who), simply lift up the plywood/cardboard/tarp and wala! Grass.
Fido sees familiar ground and is able to handle their business as usual.
Trust me on this - it'll work and it'll save some cleaning up in the end!
