Whether you're looking to build up some good karma with your liver ahead of St Patrick's Day on Monday, or to ring in the start of spring with a refreshing run, or just to walk through the beautiful hills surrounding Lion's Parks, this is the event for you.

The 8th Annual St Patrick's Day 5k, 10k, and kids' 1k fun run is this Saturday morning at Lion's Park in Temple. Register in advance by Thursday, or come out the morning of the event.  I'm sure no one will be turned away.  Shake those winter blues away with a run through the beautiful neighborhood surrounding Lion's Park.

If you want to crunch the numbers for motivation, you'll burn just a hair under 1,000 calories by taking a casual pace running and/or walking the 10k.  That's more than 10 green beers you've worked off ahead of Monday's St Patrick's Day holiday, enough to get you in some serious trouble, so I'd recommend some corned beef to soak it all up.  Enjoy safely.

The marathon runs Saturday morning, starting 9am at Lion's Park in Temple. It benefits the McLane Scott & White Children's Hospital, so you're doing it for yourself, and you're doing it for the good of the kids.
