It's that time of year that high school students around Central Texas are getting ready to start strapping on shoulder pads and snapping on their helmets.  Football season is upon us and for Temple High School it kicks off this Friday on KTEM-AM 1400.  Here is the Temple High School 2013 Football Schedule

For most people this means make sure you have the ice chest aired out and the school colors washed and ready to wear.  For a guy in radio it means that you need to hit up the old home stadium to make sure the equipment is ready to go for the first broadcast.  So today we drove across the highway to make sure we were ready to go.  In tow was our engineer and Romeo from B106.

As we arrived I saw an alarming sign...

However it turned out to be an old song because the chorus of annoying squelching noises have since chased away the bats.  However once we climbed the mile of stairs (not used to that kinda thing in radio) to the top of the stadium it gave us a great view of the field.

Now the fun part... After we ran wire and taped it down Doug got to climb on the ladder.  He always has a great attitude and has fun.  I have learned so much from working with him.  Look at that smile!

Then I took an even better picture of Doug up on the ladder.

And since Romeo is VERY scared of heights he was not a big fan of us climbing high on the ladder over the edge of the stadium.  He later admitted that we were going to give him a heart attack for doing that.  Here is a somewhat disapproving look that he was giving us for taking pictures and not immediately getting down off the ladder once we finished.  He didn't like me trying to get Doug to climb to the very top step... Sad Day.

Then a picture from where Doug would have fallen had he slipped...
Kind of a long ways down.

No radio station employees were hurt or injured while taking these pictures.

Fun was had by all!
