Hollywood Moves To Central Texas As 2 Big Companies Lease Properties for Production
Your chance to be a star is closer than ever as Hollywood productions set their sights on Central Texas locations.
According to Austin Business Journal, HBO and Netflix have both leased properties in Central Texas to film various projects in the area.
AKA there will be celebrities in Central Texas. Not that there isn't the usual appearances, but now we're that much closer of getting a peek of the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio or Johnny Depp.
Word on the street is that HBO leased 110,000 square ft building at Kyle Crossing, in the Hays County city of Kyle, and Netflix has leased a 20,000 square ft in East Austin. So we'll be just an hour or hour and a half from the action.
Nothing permanent has occurred yet, as both of the leases are short term. HBO's lease is reportedly for one year, while Netflix's lease will fall between 12 to 18 months. There's currently no word on what projects the company will be working on, but obviously they've chosen a great location to start with.
In the past projects like The Walking Dead, Queen of the South, Queer Eye, and cult favorites like Office Space and Miss Congeniality were filmed in Texas. It'll be super exciting to see what other films we can put under our belt.
Keep your eyes out Central Texans, you may just run into a Hollywood star.
