Capital murder charges to be filed against a Houston, Texas man police say beat his grandmother to death.

According to a report from KHOU 11 News, Harris County Sherriff's Officers were called out for a welfare check at the home of 80-year-old Juduth Maydwell after family members found her dead. According to the press release, Maydwell was found on the living room floor with “numerous blunt force Trauma injuries.”

Authorities found the back sliding glass door had been shattered.

The investigation led to the arrest of Chad Maydwell, the 30-year-old grandson of the victim. Witnesses' said they saw Chad Maydwell's car at the victim's home the day before her body was discovered.

The Harris County Sherriff's Office K9 Unit, along with help from the Harris County Sherriff's Office Air Unit and Texas Department of Public Safety, found Chad after he ran into a wooded area and was eventually captured.

Yahoo News reports that Chad Maydwell was also wanted by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the aggravated assault of his father on March 7.

According to the Harris County's Sherriff's Office press release, Maydwell admitted to assaulting his father and killing his grandmother during his arrest.

Authorities say he is also being held on the aggravated assault warrant and capital murder. Harris County Jail records indicated he was in custody Tuesday afternoon with bond set at $1,000,000.
