How Central Texans Can Help Those Affected by the Tornadoes on Friday

A deadly storm that traveled more than 200 miles through six states has left many without homes and necessities. Here's how Central Texans can help.

The images of destruction following the deadly storms and tornadoes that ripped through parts of six states on Friday night are hard to look at. The death toll continues to rise as crews work their way through the debris.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says the death toll in his state could top 100 while saying "This is likely to be the most severe tornado outbreak in our state's history."

Thousands of homes have been leveled, and thousands more have been left without power. It's times like these that we all need to band together and find ways to help. CBS News reported on ways we can get involved.

The American Red Cross has been providing disaster relief for 140 years. The ARC crews are among the first to arrive to provide emergency assistance and disaster relief. The American Red Cross is asking for both blood and monetary donations.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear established the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund to help provide aid those affected by the storms and tornadoes. Beshear is also asking for monetary donations to help "on-the-ground efforts going on right now, and the relief efforts that these families are going to need to rebuild." according to the Governor.

Both the Salvation Army and United Way of Kentucky have links you can donate to as well with the Salvation Army Western KY Disaster Relief Fundraiser on Facebook.
