“I Can See Clearly Now” Singer Johnny Nash Has Died

As if this year hasn't already handed us enough sad news with the passing of the legendary and iconic guitarist Eddie Van Halen, the musical world is mourning the loss of a man who penned one of the greatest songs of all time.

According to TMZ, Johnny Nash, the Houston, Texas-born singer and songwriter who wrote and sang the eternal classic "I Can See Clearly Now" passed away at his home on Tuesday of natural causes. He was 80 years old.

Nash began his musical career in the late 1950s, but it wasn't until he hit platinum in 1972 with his reggae flavored classic "I Can See Clearly Now" that the world took notice.

"Clearly" spent 4 weeks at the top of the charts that year, and it made Nash an international star despite the fact that it would be the only hit song of his career. Since then, the song has been covered hundreds of times by numerous artists in many different genres, and its forever relevant message of happiness and hope will surely live on in us all.
