The great state of Texas was founded on March 2, 1836. A lot of people don’t know it was colonized in the 18th century by the Spanish, which was the Republic of Texas declared its independence from Mexico on March 2. The Republic of Texas was actually not recognized by the United States until later on, in the year 1837. So you would think a state that is 187 years old has plenty of history and the reality of it is Texas does. Texas history is something that I have always been interested in.

Old San Antonio Road, also known as El Camino Real the Kings Highway is the oldest highway in the United States of America. The glory days of history started in 1691 between the Spanish Mission, Texas, and Louisiana. Texas was also 1000 wide and it was extended at least 539 miles from the Sabine River to the Rio Grande. This historic roadway has definitely been a conversation in school when you have Texas history as a subject. The next time you’re on a road trip and you happen to see the Old San Antonio Road, keep in mind not only is it the oldest road in Texas history, it is the most historic.
