Today (April 11) is the day Granger Smith walks into Killeen.  He’s has been putting boots to the ground, walking from Austin since Sunday, making his way to Fort Hood.

His 100-mile journey, is all about raising awareness and support for the military as part of the Nationwide Boot Campaign.

Join our Fort Hood Team, lead by SGT Justin Caple, this afternoon in the Killeen Mall Parking Lot by Fuddruckers. (2100 South W S Young Drive Killeen, TX 76543; Signs will direct you to the exact meeting location at the mall)

Boot Walk Meeting Time: Noon

Walk Start: 1:00pm

Boot Walk End at Fort Hood Welcome Center: 4:00pm (tentative)

Boot Walk Celebration Concert: 7:00-10:00pm at Fort Hood Harley Davidson.

Shuttle Service: A free shuttle service will provide transportation from the Fort Hood Welcome Center back to your vehicle at the Killeen Mall.

Public Walk Advisory: Please note that water and refreshments will not be provided to those who choose to walk with Granger Smith during the Boot Walk. Please make proper arrangements to provide your own hydration and food, as well as, proper foot attire* and clothing. Please note that you will be walking along public roads and highways. Ensure that you are physically capable of walking 3+ miles, and in all weather situations-Granger walks rain or shine!

* The Boot Campaign will be on-site selling official "give back" combat boots to those wishing to purchase and wear a pair of combat boots during the Boot Walk.

If you can’t walk, you can still make a donation.  With his first two Boot Walks, Granger Smith raised more than $15,000 to support the Boot Campaign’s five initiatives—Jobs, Housing, Wellness, Family Support and Urgent Assistance.
