The last thing that you expect when you're trying to finish your Christmas shopping is to be dodging gunfire, but that's exactly what happened Tuesday night to shoppers at Killeen Mall. Police are still on the lookout for the shooter.

One person was shot multiple times, but no other injuries were reported. The victim is said to be in stable condition at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.

Deleon Collins, employee at Pro Image Sports, was hailed as a hero after returning to the front of the store after shots rang out to protect customers by closing the gate to keep everyone safe.

Killeen police say there are some new leads in Tuesday's shooting at The Finish Line in Killeen Mall, but the suspect is still at large. Authorities are looking for a white man, 6 feet tall, who was last seen wearing a black jacket, black sweat pants, a white mask, and a white beanie.

What Should You Do to Stay Safe?

In the meantime, Killeen Police Chief Charles Kimble says shoppers at the mall should stay on their guard, have a plan while shopping, and know where they are going. It's best to be aware of what areas you will be shopping in beforehand.

Kimble also had some reassuring words to share, as reported by our news partner, KWTX: “I can tell you this. If this person who did this horrible crime, that walked in the Killeen mall and pointed a handgun and shot 10 times at another person. If he thinks he is going to scare this community – this is not the place.”

Here's What To Do If You Have A Lead
