Killeen Woman Arrested in Connection to Infant’s Death
A woman in Killeen was arrested and charged Thursday morning in connection to the death of a 2-month-old male infant this month.
According to a press release from the Killeen Police Department, Shaniquie Shaniel-Shavon Parker, a caretaker for the infant, was arrested and charged with Injury to a Child causing Serious Bodily Injury. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke has set Parker's bond at $1 million dollars.
On January 14, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive infant in the 3600 block of Littleleaf Drive at 11:58 a.m. Officers performed CPR on the infant until paramedics arrived and transferred the infant to Advent Health.
The baby boy, Quan Kendrick Devin Scott, was pronounced deceased at approximately 1 p.m. that same day by Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman. An autopsy was ordered for Scott from the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division Special Victims Unit determined "that a caretaker had intentionally caused injuries to the infant." After reviewing the case, the Bell County District Attorney’s Office decided to move forward with charging Parker in the death of Quan Kendrick Devin Scott.
