Do you ever see a video and think to yourself, "That person must have a guardian angel"? That definitely seems to be the case with a wheelchair-bound man in Austin, Texas who was recently run over by a driver who didn't bother to stop, help, and take responsibility.

A COWARDLY ACT BY A TEEN DRIVER

Austin's CBS affiliate reports that on Saturday, September 3, Rogelio De Luna was headed to work and crossing a shopping center parking lot on South Lamar like he does every day. He says he saw a person in a truck driving recklessly through the lot and tried to signal them to slow down. However, he doesn't remember anything after that.

What happened next is tough to watch. Surveillance footage shows the driver of the truck speeding forward and not only hitting De Luna, but actually running over his body. The driver then took off.

Warning: The footage below may be disturbing to some viewers.

De Luna suffered life-threatening injuries. By some miracle, an Austin Fire Department truck just happened to be nearby (you can see it in the footage above), and he was able to receive first aid quickly.

WHO HIT ROGILLIO? AND WHY?

FOX News and CBS Austin report that 17-year-old Pablo Antonio Avila-Banagas was arrested on Friday, September 9 and charged with injury to a disabled person, failure to stop and render aid, unlawful carry of a weapon, and failure to identify in relation to a case. Witnesses said it appeared that the suspect actually jerked left and accelerated when the victim signaled him to slow down.

GOD BLESS YOU, ROGELIO!

De Luna said that he knows that God has a plan for him and that’s why he is still here after his unthinkable event. Thankfully he's still with us, and if that doesn't warm your heart enough, get this - a local car club recently held a fundraiser to help him with medical expenses.

This never should have happened in the first place, but it's a blessing that fire truck was so close by and that these good people came together to help this man in a time of need.

As for the person who hit De Luna, well, may the same power that was looking out for De Luna help that person turn their life around. That's all I'll say about him.
