At 71, Texas Woman Has Historic Moment In Miss Texas USA
There is greatness all over the state of Texas.
No matter the age or the gender, many Texans have brought pride to the state. We've seen world records set here, some fantastic sporting occur, and so much more that would be impossible to list here.
But when somebody does something outside the normal in the Lone Star State, it might catch someone off guard. To find out what recently happened, we turn to the world of pageantry.
In the Lone Star State, one 71 year old woman showed the state you're never too old to participate in a pageant. Her name is Marissa Teijo, and she took part in Miss Texas USA over the weekend.

Per ABC News, the 71 years young Miss Paso del Norte took to the stage for her chance to be Miss Texas USA. She stated about the moment:
"I hope that people will look at us as older women as still being beautiful in our own way...Beauty is not just on the outside but it's on the inside also."
Per Bazaar Model Management, who represents her, Teijo initially made the decision to not participate. But after talking to CEO of the company, Jackie Garcia, Teijo changed her mind.
While title of Miss Texas USA went to Miss Dallas, Aarieanna Ware, Teijo was hoping she would inspire others to try, no matter their age:
"Young women have dreams but older people have dreams also."
