Texas Woman’s Big Tongue Now Certified Largest in the World

Everything’s bigger in Texas, including tongues, apparently. Brittany Lacayo, an attorney from the Lone Star State, has just been verified by Guinness World Records as having the world’s widest tongue (female). Measuring a jaw-dropping 7.90 cm (3.11 inches) at its widest point, her tongue is wider than a hockey puck and almost as wide as a credit card.

To put it into perspective, her tongue is 2.5 cm wider than it is long when measured from tip to lip, and it matches the average length of a woman’s entire tongue measured from the epiglottis. This record-breaking licker dethrones the previous titleholder, Emily Schlenker, whose 7.33 cm tongue held the crown for a decade.

Brittany’s oversized tongue isn’t exactly news to her family, who teased her about it throughout her childhood. But the idea of having the widest tongue in the world never crossed her mind—until a friend sent her a video of the previous record-holder, inspiring Brittany to measure her own.

Reactions to her unique feature are typically a mix of “shock” and “curiosity.” Despite the fame her tongue has brought her, Brittany has kept her record-breaking achievement under wraps at work. “It is neat and kind of funny,” she admitted, though her secret might not stay hidden for long now that the news is out.

For Brittany, this title is all in good fun—and it seems she’s not the only lawyer breaking records these days. Recently, Alexander Capogna, another American attorney, smashed the record for most chest-to-ground push-ups in an hour with an unbelievable 1,246.
