The second largest jackpot in history is here in 2021. How willing are you to test your luck?

According to a press release from the official Mega Millions site, this Friday, January 15 an estimated $750 million, or $550.6 million cash could be yours.

The largest Mega Millions lottery ever won occurred back in 2018, with the jackpot coming in at $1.537 billion. Of course, if someone doesn't win this week the jackpot will continue to grow.

I remember seeing the Mega Millions at $400 million just a few weeks ago, and now it is substantially bigger. I haven't bought a ticket yet, but that jackpot is looking pretty convincing. If you're interested in playing but aren't exactly sure how, keep reading.

HOW TO PLAY:

Players may pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers - five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 25 (the gold Mega Ball) - or select Easy Pick/Quick Pick. You win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing. There are a total of nine ways to win a prize in Mega Millions, ranging from the jackpot down to $2.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2.00 per play.

Powerball holds the world record for the largest lotto jackpot at $1.586 billion, shared by three winning tickets almost exactly five years ago. As the excitement builds, Friday’s jackpot will likely vie for the honor of being the third largest lotto prize in American history, as two Powerball jackpots have been won in the same range – $768.4 million and $758.7 million.
