Police attempting to arrest a man for violating parole found drugs in the man's home after he attempted to evade arrest.

Coryell County deputies and an officer with the Department of Public Safety went to a home in the 1200 block of Straws Mill Road southeast of Gatesville Wednesday to serve an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Clayton McGuire. After answering the door, McGuire ran back inside the house and into a bedroom.

Deputies arrested McGuire after a brief struggle. After he was in custody, they found a plastic bag containing a powdery substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

McGuire was taken to the Coryell Conty Jail and charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, possession with intent to manufacture a controlled substance less than 1 gram and violation of a protective order. As of Thursday night, he was still being held with bonds totaling $35,000.
