Police in Temple, Texas were on the search for a man wanted in connection to a murder that took place in September of 2023. Now they say the suspect is in custody after trying to flee the country. Here's what we know so far in the case.

Details Of The Case

According to a press release from the Temple Police Department, a welfare check was conducted on at Economy Inn located at  the 200 block of W Ave G. When police checked the room, they discovered an unidentified woman dead.

Law enforcement then turned their attention to the security video of the hotel. According to police, the footage showed two people enter the hotel room, one being the victim, and the other a man later identified as a 29-year-old Columbian national.

Policed report that other than the two individuals mentioned, no one else entered the room in question. The 29-year-old then disappeared after the crime, sparking a manhunt.

Discovery And Capture Of The Suspect

The Temple PD news release states that several different agencies assisted in the location of the suspect, including the Austin Police, Belton Police Department, Dallas Police, Immigration Customs and Enforcement, Texas Rangers, Transportation Security Administration and Enforcement and Removal Operations Team.

Through their investigation, police say they discovered that the Columbian man's goal was to leave the country using both the Austin and Dallas Airport.

Temple police are said to be on their way to Dallas to interview the suspect.
