News 10 is reporting that a man died yesterday in Lake Whitney.

According to officials, Louis Whitmeyer, 49 drowned in Lake Witney around 7 p.m. on Sunday night.

KWTX said, "According to the Hill County Sheriff's Office, the man was in a boat calling for help near the Juniper Cove area around 7 p.m. People nearby heard him yelling and called 911. After an hours-long search, that included a drone, they found the body of 49-year-old Louis Whitmeyer around 10 pm."

Witmeyer was in Central Texas working on a local pipeline project.

Police will send his body to Dallas for an autopsy.

It is unclear if Witmeyer could not swim or if there was another reason why he drowned in Lake Whitney.

Boating officials always urge boaters to always have a life jacket on your boat at all times.
