The Belton Tigers vs Harker Heights Knights varsity football game originally scheduled for Friday, November 6 at Tiger Field has been postponed.

In a news release issued Wednesday, the Belton ISD Athletic Department cited positive COVID-19 cases and quarantines as the reason for delaying the matchup.

The 12-6A District Committee was scheduled to meet early Wednesday afternoon to discuss rescheduling. No date was official as of Noon Wednesday, but a Belton ISD parent who works with Townsquare Media tells us it will likely be moved to the first week of December.

BISD Athletics will post a new schedule as soon as a date is finalized. It will include a new date for the Marching 100 and Magic Belles Senior Night, which were going to be part of Friday's game.

"It is a tough situation, top to bottom. However, this is a necessary step to control the spread of COVID-19," Belton Journal Sports Editor and Tiger Football Play-By-Play Announcer Tony Adams said. "The health of the students and staff at BISD at ALL levels is paramount. We have been fortunate to broadcast six games so far, and that has been a blessing in itself in these trying times. One thing to consider: health is nothing to play with. Let us continue to pray for the entire community and hope that things can be better over the next week so that we can play and broadcast Belton at Temple for everyone."

If you bought tickets for this week's game, they'll still be good for the make-up date. However, you can request a refund if you'd like by calling the Belton Athletics Office at (254) 215-2228.
