The Belton Independent School District has recently been approved for pay raises for the 2020-2021 school year.

According to a report from our news partners at KWTX, the Belton ISD board of trustees voted on Monday evening to approve pay raises for employees of Belton ISD. The raises are also part of an effort to attract and keep positive educators for our community.

“When we ask ourselves how we can provide the best possible experience for our students, the answer is clear — by investing in our staff,” said Superintendent Matt Smith. “We want to retain the outstanding team that we have while also attracting the highest quality candidates to serve our students in Belton ISD. In order to do so, we need to be comparable to districts in Region 12 and throughout the state.”

Teachers are not the only employees receiving pay raises next school year. Administrative and auxiliary employees will also receive between a 2-3% pay raise.

In other Belton ISD news, graduating Belton High School and New Tech students will be honored Thursday, June 18 with a graduation ceremony at Tiger Field, followed that evening by a fireworks show. If you hear bursts and booms around 10 PM Thursday night, those are fireworks to show love to the Belton Class of 2020.
