Veterans, I hope you are ready to blouse those boots, because you may be getting ready to serve yet again.

The Commander in Chief may need your help to fight against this nasty virus that has come into our nation. The Washington Post reports that the President is allowing the Pentagon to reactivate former active duty servicemen, reservists and guardsmen.

President Trump believes this decision will “allow us to mobilize medical, disaster and emergency response personnel to help wage our battle against the virus by activating thousands of experienced service members including retirees.”

DOD Instruction 1352.01: Management of Regular and Reserve Retired Military Members states that retired service members can be activated if the need arises.

Regular retired members and members of the retired Reserve may be ordered to active duty (AD) as needed to perform such duties as the Secretary concerned considers necessary in the interests of national defense as described in Sections 688 and 12301 of Title 10, U.S.C.

President Trump did not specify if anyone would be involuntarily placed on active duty orders.

“I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.” - Oath of Enlistment
