Regardless of Geography, You Can’t Take the Country Out of the Boy
Growing up as an Air Force brat it was tough not having an official "home". We'd go home to Oklahoma every year to visit family, but we always knew the time to go back to wherever the Air Force sent us would come and ruin the fun. It would've been so great to take a piece of Oklahoma back with us, but the technology of today couldn't even be fathomed at the time.
Internet radio streaming has been around for well over a decade, but for the first seven of those years the audio quality was sketchy and buffering was a problem. The quality of the audio and quicker internet speeds now make listening online even better than listening on-air. With our Radio Pup app, we cut out 90% or so of commercials and play extra music during commercial breaks. How great is that?
I've heard from people over the years that they listened to a football game via internet stream from Iraq and Afghanistan. I've even heard from soldiers after they returned from deployment that they'd listen online when the could. I've not heard from many soldiers with boots still on the ground telling me they're listening. Yesterday, I got an email from a former Killeen resident now in Germany.
Thank you all for a super job that you provide broadcasting your radio station worldwide. I am former Air Force and I grew up in Killeen. I live and work in Germany for many years now and I listen to your radio station via the internet often. I really appreciate how you support our men and women in uniform. We travel to Killeen, our 2nd home at least once a year. We plan on coming to Killeen in October 2014 and November 2014 and we can guarantee you that we will listen to your station the time we are in Killeen.
God bless you all & God bless Texas
P.S. You can take the boy out of the country but you cannot take the country out of the boy.
We all work very hard here, and emails like the one above brighten my day. It's a compliment to my entire staff and the effort put forth by everyone in the building to give listeners, especially those in the military serving here at home and abroad, the best listening experience possible.
