On the opposite side of the spectrum, the city that ranked worse than any other city in Central Texas is Waco, coming in at 232 out of 266. Yeah! Surprisingly, Killeen is considered much safer and ranked #174.

You might be questioning how this study reached these results, but it seems Safewise has their bases covered.

The company made use FBI crime statistics data and US Census Bureau population data. Safewise also included supplemental data points like high school graduation rates and unemployment rates, plus median income and poverty data due to correlation between socioeconomic factors and reported crime rates.

Some cities did not make the list due to being below the population threshold or because the city didn’t submit a complete crime report to the FBI in 2019.

Our news partners at KWTX put together this nice list of the ranked cities here in Central Texas. The safest cities in Texas have 83% fewer violent crime incidents per 1,000 people than the rest of the state. For the full list, click here.

Safewise reports that Texans are 32% more worried about crime and safety than the rest of the country. I think the verbiage of that is pretty humorous, because while Texans may be worried about crime and safety, it definitely doesn't mean we're scared.

Texans are always down to stand up for what they believe in and fight for what they love.
