If you drive in downtown Temple, you need to be aware of some traffic changes this week.

The Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival in Downtown Temple, Texas Requires Road Closures

The Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival will kick off this Friday in downtown Temple, but traffic closures will begin around the downtown area Tuesday and remain in place through Monday September 15th. The City of Temple says the schedule of each day’s road closures is as follows:

Tuesday, September 9, beginning at 5 a.m.:
* E Avenue C closed from 4th Street to MLK Drive
* Black gates surrounding the MLK festival grounds will be closed.

Wednesday, September 10, beginning at 8 a.m.:
* 6th Street closed at Avenue A
+ Avenue A will remain open
* 2nd Street closed at Avenue B
* 4th Street closed from Avenue B to Avenue C
* Avenue C closed from Main Street to MLK Drive
* MLK Drive will be closed from Avenue A to Avenue E, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes.
+ Detour routes will be available via Avenue A

Thursday, September 11, beginning at 6 p.m.:
* 11th, 7th, and 5th Streets closed at W Central Avenue
* W Avenue A closed from 11th Street to 3rd Street, including the alleyway between 5th and 7th Streets
* W Avenue B closed east of the 3rd Street bridge

Friday, September 12, beginning at 8 a.m.:
* 9th Street closed at W Central Avenue
* Main Street closed from E Avenue B to E Avenue D
+ Closure on Main Street at E Avenue B will be just south of the businesses on Main Street
+ Closure on Main Street at E Avenue D will be just north of E Avenue D
* Southern most lane of W Central Avenue used for festival traffic only from 19th Street to 11th Street

These road closures will remain in place through the end of the festival on Saturday, September 13. Roads surrounding the MLK Festival Grounds will remain closed for teardown and cleanup on Sunday, September 14, and Monday, September 15.

Temple, Texas Government Office Closures Due to the Tanglefoot Festival

The following City of Temple facilities will also be closed due to the Tanglefoot Festival:

* City Hall and the City Hall Annex will be closed on September 12.
* Temple Public Library will be closed on September 12 and September 13.
* Railroad & Heritage Museum will be closed on September 12 and September 13.
* Wilson Park and Wilson Recreation Center will be closed on September 12 and September 13.
* Patsy Luna and Jeff Hamilton Buildings will be closed on September 12.

Official Tanglefoot parking will be available at Wilson Recreation Center, with $5 per person shuttle service provided.
