National Archery in Schools Program Texas State Championship
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will host the 20th anniversary of the Texas State National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Bullseye & 3D Tournament March 20 –21, at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. According to the TPWD website, the event will bring together thousands of young archers from across the state for two days of competition and scholarships. TPWD says over 5,000 students representing nearly 200 schools are expected to compete in the Bullseye and 3D archery disciplines. It is a great way for students to earn scholarships, awards, and qualification slots for the NASP National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky.
Target Archery
When many think of archery, they assume it involves hunting an animal. Target archery is different in that it is a sport that focuses on hitting a non-living target. This form of archery can be divided into three disciplines: Static, Field, and 3D.
Static Archery
Target archery ranges involve foam target bails at fixed distances ranging from 10yds to 100yds. Paper targets are then pinned to these bails.
Field Archery
Field archery mimics Static Archery, but in this version of the sport, the target bails are spread over a course connected by a trail over uneven terrain. A typical course loop can contain anywhere between 10 and 30 targets.
3D Archery
3D archery resembles Field archery, but instead of a bail target, life-like 3-dimensional animals the target and they are spread over a course connected by a trail over uneven terrain. Everything else is virtually the same.
Congratulations!
