Temple, Texas Police Warn Of Scammers Posing As Them

Temple, Texas police have alerted residents of the area to new scam that involves individuals impersonating law enforcement. Here's what is known at time of writing.

Temple law enforcement recently released a statement on social media about the situation facing some individuals in the area:

As stated by the Temple police, unknown individuals are being contacted by someone falsely stating you or someone related to you has a warrant. Following the fake revelation, they will insist that you pay them via a card or money.

The scammers, according to Temple law enforcement,  will also use real names of officers to put forth the illusion of them being real. Temple police also reveal that if the person tries to hang up on the scam, the scammer will attempt to scare the individual with arrest if they don't comply.

How You Can Avoid Falling For The Scam In Question

Temple police encourages anyone that receives a phone call such as this to reach out to the department at 254-298-5500 to report the call from the unidentified scammers. Law enforcement in Temple also reiterated that their agency, and similar departments, won't call you directly for items or money.

Multiple comments on the notice posted to social media state they have received calls such as this, encouraging people to simply ignore them.
