Texas Residents Urged To Vacate Homes During Musk Rocket Launch

Elon Musk is a bit of a controversial figure. Most folks seem to have a strong opinion on the SpaceX founder. It seems he may have turned a tiny Texas town against him.

Boca Chica is about 20 miles east of Brownsville with a population of only 26. The county sheriff went to every resident's home asking that they temporarily vacate their homes on Monday while SpaceX attempts an experimental launch of a Mars rocket prototype.

MSN reports that a SpaceX noticed read "There is a risk that a malfunction of the SpaceX vehicle during the flight will create an overpressure event that can break windows."

Many residents feel their rights have been violated.

Boca Chica has been the home of the South Texas SpaceX launch site since 2014. Last month a test launch resulted in a brush firing scorching around 100 acres.
