It seems there would be a handful of universities in Texas that would have programs in veterinary medicine, but Texas A&M has been the only option in the lone star state. In just two years that will change.

Diana Smith of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that in the year 2021 Texas Tech will join the Aggies as the second Veterinary Medical School. Tech has been pledging for funding for the last few years and has raised $90 million towards the program. With Governor Abbott recently approving a new state education budget the state will provide an additional $17.35 million.

There has been a large demand for a second vet school for years. With nearly five times as many Texas veterinary students leaving the state for a degree.

The facility will be located in Amarillo.
