A woman in Texas has admitted to embezzling over $500,000.

According to a report from EastTexasMatters, Jessica Rottab, 33, has pleaded guilty to embezzling over $500,000 from the East Texas Council for Independent Living for more than a year.

Rottab was formerly the director of ETCIL and intentionally and knowingly stole funds intended for ETCIL clients. Currently Rottab is facing up to 7 years in prison as part of her plea deal.

Currently a date for sentencing has not been set, and prosecutors have recommended that Rottab be released on a personal recognizance bond. Personally, I agree with the parole division, and believe that Rottab should be imprisoned until her sentencing.

Prosecutors don't believe Rottab is a flight risk, but you never know. The woman was capable of stealing a large amount of money without initially being caught so who knows what else she is capable of?
