Texas Woman Who Killed Cheating Husband Released From Prison
Clara Harris, who was convicted of killing her cheating husband in 2002, was released from prison in Gatesville today.
KWTX reports that the now 60-year-old Harris was released after serving 15 years of a 20-year sentence. According to WFAA, she was granted parole on the condition that she wear an ankle monitor until 2023. She will be living in Galveston County as she transitions back into private life.
KHOU reports that Harris, who worked as a dentist at the time of the killing, caught her husband, 44-year-old David Harris, an orthodontist, cheating on her after hiring a private detective. She confronted David and his receptionist-turned-mistress at the Nassau Bay Hilton, where she ran her husband over with a Mercedes-Benz multiple times. Her teenage daughter was in the car with her at the time.
Harris was sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter after a trial that made national headlines and led to the release of a TV movie titled 'Suburban Madness'.
