The Band Perry are one of the most beloved acts in country music, but it turns out they're pretty familiar with some songs outside the genre, too.

The sibling trio have just released a new single, "Live Forever," and while they were making the media rounds to promote it, they got an unusual challenge from Paul Costabile at iHeartRadio.

"I don't think a lot of people know how gangster the Band Perry is," he said, provoking a laugh from Kimberly Perry, who replied, "I would say that's one of our best-kept secrets."

"I think out of the three of us, I'm probably the most 'street'," Neil Perry said as Costabile readied them for the challenge, which consisted of him throwing out titles of hip hop songs while the siblings chimed in with whatever portion of them they happened to know.

It started off with Eminem's "Lose Yourself," and sure enough, Neil could recite long sections of it, much to the amusement of Kimberly and their brother Reid. All three of the musicians knew the words to Outkast's "Hey Ya,' joining in for a performance that included an impromptu dance, and they also gave their own version of the Whip and Nae Nae as they jammed along to Silento's "Watch Me." See the hilarious results above.

The Band Perry have taken on some different influences of their own for "Live Forever," which was co-written and produced by pop and international producer RedOne. That's part of a big agenda they have for their upcoming album, for which they say they were "dreaming in color."

“Everything is so colorful and enthusiastic and happy,” Kimberly says. “We’re walking out of the studio with giant smiles on our faces.”
