Cheers, the bar where everyone knows your name, is shutting down for good.

As reported by WBZ-TV out of Boston, Mass., after 20 years, the "Cheers" bar at Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace is closing.

The owner said the decision to close came after disputes with the Marketplace's landlord and the negative economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The bar is a replica of the famous watering hole we've all seen on TV starring Ted Danson and so many other great actors like Shelly Long and Wood Harrelson.

According to the owner, Cheers is set to close on Aug. 30.

The classic Cheers TV series ran from 1982 to 1993 and is still in syndication.

The bar in the show was inspired by The Bull & Finch Pub on Boston's famous Beacon Hill. Legend has it the producers of the show were looking for a random tavern to model their sets after, and chose the Bull & Finch at random from a phone book.

Man, I really hate to see this.  I was always a big fan of the TV show and wanted to check out the real bar and have beer with Norm.  Guess that isn't going to happen now, but maybe someone else will re-open this iconic establishment once this pandemic blows over.
