
This Is Why Central Texas Now Needs More Solar
Troy, Texas is the hometown to some of the best people I know in the entire Lone Star State, and you honestly cannot adequately describe it to anyone without using the words, "Charming small town." What I appreciate most about Troy is that it is an agricultural community that makes for a great home for both farming families and commuters that head into the neighboring Central Texas cities for work.

One thing I can testify to as the product from a small farming community, is that nobody wants to see their charming small town turn into the big city, and part of that is keeping pastures and fields as places where animals graze and crops are grown.

The Future of Troy, Texas: Energy vs. Agriculture in a Small Town
On our farm back in Missouri, my father has signed a lease agreement for the installation of wind turbine generators to coexist with the fields, and they make a great option to solar farms popping up everywhere along the Texas country side. The only problem is, sometimes that constant wind is almost too Texas sized, and having 300 foot tall towers might find their self being shut down, or falling down during high winds.

According to this KCEN article, one local ranch and farm family is not necessarily the biggest fan of solar farms surrounding theirs, and ask if more electricity is more important than food on the table. My reply is anything that can reduce my electric bill will put more food on the table, and I'd rather see low yielding fields now producing electricity than someone clearing patch of trees to build.
