A Wounded Austin, TX Policeman Now On Administrative Leave
There are a ton of questions still unanswered as Austin Police Department officers were involved in a shooting at an apartment complex last night just east of Interstate 35 in southeast Austin, Texas. Details are still coming out as one officer has been placed on administrative leave for his role in the shooting of a man, and is also attempting to recover from a gunshot wound he received in a shoot out with an unnamed suspect just after sundown Sunday night.
Around 7 PM, a 911 call was received about a person living in a neighborhood on Channel Island Drive that apparently hadn't been seen for several months. Officers didn't responded to the call until close to 9 PM to investigate because it was not appear to require immediate attention.
Once officers reached the home, according to Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon, the officers were met by a man in possession of a gun at the front door. The officers then went outside, and the man with the gun followed them before opening fire and allegedly shot one of the officers.
How did Austin Police respond once the call of an officer being shot occurred?

Eventually the Austin PD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team was called to the neighborhood and a stand off was ongoing for the next few hours. Eventually at about midnight, the suspect exited the home peacefully and that is when it was determined that he had also been injured in the exchange of gunfire.
