2020 Ironman Texas is Coming to Waco
The 2020 Ironman Texas Triathlon is coming to Central Texas.
According to Ironman.com, the 2020 Ironman Texas Triatholon will be held in Waco on October 17. The following day on October 18, Waco will also host the 2020 Bicycle World Texas IRONMAN 70.3.
The event was originally scheduled for April in the Woodlands, but since the pandemic of COVID-19, plans have changed. This year, Ironman will celebrate 10 years in Texas and the site boasts that, "Athletes can expect a louder spectator-lined course, a grand 10th anniversary medal, and a bigger post-race celebration. "
So, what exactly is the Ironman Texas Triathlon?
The triathlon is a race composed of 3 courses where participants swim, run, and bike. Top finishers at the event in Waco will potentially qualify for the chance to participate in the 2021 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i. The Ironman Texas Triatholon is only offering 40 spots, so the competition will definitely be fierce.
