Last night the American Music Awards aired on CBS and was streaming live on Paramount+. Country Music shined with performances from Blake Shelton and Lainey Wilson, and Beyonce brought home awards for Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album.

Lainey Wilson Shines at the AMAs

Lainey Wilson gave her new single “Somewhere Over Laredo” a heartfelt rendering at the 2025 American Music Awards, melding traditional country storytelling with a contemporary twist. The emotion in her voice grabbed the heartstrings of everyone in attendance, earning an A+ on the night.

Many Central Texans Were Interrupted

It was unfortunate that immediately following her performance, my local news channel interrupted show to air non-stop break in coverage of bad storms and tornado warnings in my area, missing the rest of the show and needing to rewatch it for all the highlights milestones.

Beyoncé Makes History in Country Music

Beyoncé was awarded both Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Album for her Cowboy Carter project, being the first time she has ever won an award in the country category at the AMAs. Quite the feat to utilize a modern twist to chase down classic hard country music while bringing the tremendous appeal of this album.

Post Malone Crossover to Country

Post Malone earned Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song award with his collaboration on the song "I Had Some Help" with Morgan Wallen to achieve his crossover over in the country category.

Dan + Shay Duo Award

Dan + Shay received the Favorite Country Duo or Group Award, adding to their accolades in the country music scene. Their harmonies were quite good and played a large role in their ability to dominate the charts week after week with music in the charts consistently.

Blake Shelton Performs with Energy

Blake Shelton was a breath of fresh air with his energetic performance of his song "Stay Country or Die Tryin." He still has the jolt and energy to be a long-term performer in county music. This performance was one of the evening's highlights.

With the severe weather break from the news, I'd like to watch the AMAs again to see everything that transpires in the country portion of the night and all the other fun moments that unfold. The ceremony is available for download on CBS and Paramount+.

Country Stars Who Skipped the 2025 ACM Awards

A dozen country music A-listers skipped the 2025 ACM Awards in Texas. One was sick, one had a tee time and two had shows in another state the next day. As for the other eight ... well, it's personal.
