News 10 is reporting that Killeen residents might begin having trouble with public transportation following Monday's bus route cuts.

HOP officials attest the cuts to local public transportation routes to lack of funding and rising costs.

The biggest hit to travelers will be on weekends as there will be no service in all Bell County cities on Saturdays.

There will also be fewer rides during low traffic times during the day in Harker Heights and Copperas Cove.

The changes to the daily bus routines come after The Hill Country Transit District requested additional funds from Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, and Killen.

The requests were denied by the cities, resulting in the cuts to the routes.

Funding for city bus services comes from money by both federal and local entities.

Despite the cuts, the HOP has said that there are no planned layoffs for any HOP bus drivers.
