Bell County Woman Accused of Defrauding the Government of $30 Million
News 10 is reporting that a Falls County woman has been accused of defrauding the government of $30,000,000.
Melissa Sumerour, 47, of Lorena, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Waco and has been charged with fraud.
Sumerour had been working as a billing clerk for a Central Texas doctor.
Officers claim that Sumerour helped the money go to the doctor that she worked for in exchange for a large sum of the $30,000,000.
The doctor, who has not been named, was working out of offices in Temple and Waco.
Sheriff Ricky Scaman and his officers had been working with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General and the U.S. Department of Justice in their investigation of the doctor and Sumerour.
No one knows exactly whereSumerour is being held, however, she is believed to be at the Jack Harwell Detention Center off HWY 6 in Waco.
There are no current details as to Sumerour's bail.
