When Belton ISD's newest elementary school opens its doors to students in August of 2019, a face fammiliar to many in the district will welcome them.

The district announced Monday that  Jennifer Conner, who's served as principal at Miller Heights Elementary since 2011, will take on the role at the newly-constructed Charter Oak Elementary at 8402 Poison Oak Road in Temple.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to continue my work as an elementary principal in Belton ISD,” Conner told Belton ISD's Elizabeth Cox in a news release. "I’m looking forward to laying the foundation for a strong campus culture at Charter Oak Elementary that delivers on our district’s mission to provide an education that challenges every student to excel.”

Conner has 25 years of experience in education, including 13 years in Belton ISD.

Before becoming a principal, Conner was a second grade dual language teacher, instructional coach, and elementary assistant principal. She earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Tarleton State University and a bachelor’s degree from the Stephen F. Austin State University.

She earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Tarleton State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

“I love Miller Heights Elementary, and I’m excited about this new role," Orsag said. "I look forward to building upon the success that our students and staff have already accomplished.”

Belton ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon said, “It’s exciting to name Jennifer and Hope for these key positions. They know the district’s priorities and have worked diligently to increase student achievement while building a strong school culture that supports the academic, behavior, and social-emotional needs of our children. I appreciate their continued commitment to Belton ISD.”

We'd like to say congratulations to Conner and Orsag as they prepare to take on their new jobs and challenges.
