Support of Legal Marijuana in Texas

According to Marijuana Moment, a University of Texas and Texas Tribune survey showed that 60% of state voters now support making cannabis legal 'for any use'.

Twelve years ago in 2010, that number was only 42%.

In the most recent poll, only 13% of those surveyed want prohibition of marijuana maintained across the board in Texas.

Beto Campaign Promises

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, or NORML, is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. that advocates reform of marijuana laws throughout the United States regarding both medical and non-medical use.

Leaders of the Texas chapter of NORML believes that the time has come for marijuana laws to change in Texas.

For the rare few prohibitionists that are left out there. I think that many of the issues that people have with cannabis can be addressed in thoughtful ways. We can make regulation that works for the state of Texas and empowers both businesses and consumers. To engage in a robust market which we deserve here in the state of Texas.

Marijuana Decriminalization in Texas

Texas is already taking steps to lower penalties for weed possession.

With the upcoming election this May, voters in Austin will get a chance to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana or eliminate low-level marijuana enforcement.

Beto's opponent is, of course, incumbent Governor Greg Abbott, who's actually expressed opposition to jailing people for small amounts of marijuana.

One thing is certain - the eyes of Texas will be watching the race for governor very closely!
