A driver is recovering from minor injuries after passing out due to a medical emergency and running into a church in Temple Tuesday morning.

According to police, the driver of a 2003 Buick LeSabre exited I-35 around 10:50 AM, hit a concrete divider and another vehicle, then left the road at 31st and Central. It then ran through the playground on the south side of of the First Lutheran Church of Temple before crashing through the wall of a daycare classroom and coming to a stop.

Temple Fire and Rescue units arrived at the scene at 11:02 AM and discovered that the driver had been pulled from the vehicle and was sitting outside. The man had apparently lost consciousness due to a medical condition, and he was transported to Scott & White Hospital with minor injuries. No one else was injured.
