The good news: Texas is rebounding from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bad news: Many of our friends and neighbors are still experiencing food insecurity as they work to get back on their feet.

That's where the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) comes in.

Mark Your Calendar for Food Bank Distribution Events in Waco and Temple

The Central Texas Food Bank has planned two big food distribution events for July.

The first will be held Thursday, July 22 at Waco ISD Stadium from 10 AM to Noon.

The second is scheduled for Saturday, July 24 at Temple College from 9 AM to 11 AM.

Mass Distributions Are Ending in Waco, but Services Are Not

According to Paul Gaither with the CTFB, the July 22nd event in Waco will be the last COVID-19 response distribution in Waco.

However, that doesn't mean they won't continue helping Central Texans in need.

Paul wanted us to remind everyone of regularly-scheduled monthly mobile food pantry events in Waco. There are three coming up in July, and you can watch for future events in your area on the CTFB's website. How Can I Get Food at One of These Events?

The Central Texas Food Bank events in Waco and Temple are designed as drive-thru distributions. All you need to do is pull up in your vehicle and pop the trunk or backseat area.

Volunteers will load assorted food items into the space you've made in your vehicle, then you'll be all good to go.

Do I Need a Car to Get Food?

Nope! While the distributions are set up as drive-thrus for convenience and safety, no one in need of food will be turned away. Whether you arrive on foot or via public transportation, just look for the designated walk-up area.

Bring Something to Carry Your Food Home In

If you don't have a vehicle, make sure you bring a container that can hold boxes of food and make it easy for you to get them home. The food boxes can be heavy, so make sure it's a sturdy container. If you have something with wheels, that could help a lot.
