The Copperas Cove Library will soon make some new, high-tech equipment available to citizens.

The library recently received a $10,000 Edge Initiative Grant that will pay for two computer workstations optimized for teleconferencing, video editing, and design work. It will go toward purchasing four tablet computers available for checkout, new Wi-Fi routers, and a 3-D printer and scanner.

Library officials say the equipment will be available for use this summer, and classes and hands-on demonstrations will be scheduled.

The Edge Initiative is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation led by the Urban Libraries Council. The grant is intended to make information technology more accessible and to help improve city libraries.
